What is ROP?

California’s new educational landscape is transforming to address the critical skills gaps facing many of the state’s high growth sectors, and to build a pipeline of talented students who are both, college and career ready.

Current and emerging educational policies are working to align funding streams and processes from a regional perspective to ensure that students and learners are well prepared for the 21st Century with a combination of academic knowledge and technical skills.  The catalyst for this success is work-based learning in which students apply technical content and academic knowledge with hand-on learning experience in a workplace setting, all within the context of the Common Core State Standards.

A critical component of this regional alignment is California’s 50 + career and college readiness programs that have been a strong and integral part of California’s educational system. CAROCP represents career and college readiness programs, which have a 40-year-plus history of maximizing opportunities for students to achieve skills through regional delivery of career technical education classes that lead to college and/or career.

On average, 93% of career technical education courses offer work-based learning activities such as internships, field trips, guest speakers, and job shadowing. Representatives from local businesses serve on local advisory boards and support a rigorous approach in developing industry-approved curriculum that is relevant in today’s economy.

What are SGVROP School Accreditation and Why Does It Matter?

Accreditation is a very important part of choosing a quality school. It’s your assurance that the institution upholds standards set forth by an independent accrediting agency that is recognized by the United States Department of Education. In order to receive accreditation, a school must meet specific requirements and be approved by an official review board that certifies its strict adherence to the accrediting body’s standards of academic and institutional criteria.

Institutional Accreditation

ROP courses may provide students with an edge in obtaining entrance into a variety of related college and university majors. In addition, SGVROP has entered into articulation agreements with local community colleges.  These agreements permit students, who have successfully completed selected courses, to enroll in training programs at the community college, without having to repeat previously covered materials.
